Funds in the amount of$1,200 to PATH for Pet Waste Bags for the Old Walua Trail

I
Thank you for considering providing contingency funds to support the dog waste bags
on the Old Waluo Trail. Most of the trail users would be surprised to learn the bags
aren't already provided by the county. I know I was very surprised when I found out ,-, -
From what I learned, the dispensers were installed in 2013 through a public access
grant. When those funds.ran out, it fell on vduafeers to pay for a. d stock fhe
dispensers.
One citizen, Jim Johnson, has been quietly and single-handedly funding the bag
purchases and filling the dispensers since the original funding was depleted years agcy:;
When I found this out last year, I joined him in his efforts. Since Sept.1 of last year, I
personally spent$400 on bags to help Jim keep the dispensers filled.
The trail is well loved and well used. Every morning there are joyful dog owners and
happy dog lovers walking the path. There are several couples who, instead of bringing
dogs along for their morning stroll, bring dog treats to share with their canine friends.
We all know each other's dogs' names, even when we may not remember the
human's name. We refer to each other as "Fluffy's Mom" or "Vader's Dad" or "The
Treat Lady".
When the dispensers are stocked, the trail-users seem very good at picking up their dog
waste. These bags are a great service to the community and are highly important to
the beauty of the trail and the health of the trail users. Please authorize these funds so
PATH can continue to fill the dispensers without this being such a financial burden on
just two citizens.
