First I'd like to commend Hawaii County for enduring through the COVID-19
pandemic.
My name is Claire Cea and I work at Mr. K's Recycle & Redemption Center Inc. and
overseeing the e-waste collection program. I'd like to speak on the county budget,
specifically Part J, the solid waste fund. Although the electronic waste collections
conducted by Mr. K's was shut down for a short time, we were able to resume
collections after only a few months, and we've had funding to recycle the
electronics and get them off island. Living on an island, it is crucial to keep our
aina free of harmful toxins and chemicals, most of which are commonly found in

electronics, and I'm glad the County recognizes this sentiment as well. I
appreciate the County maintaining a line item for electronics recycling to help
Hawaii Residents, and I look forward to seeing how we can help each other in the
future, hopefully to include businesses, schools, and non-profits in the subsidy
program. Thank you for your time.
