Subject: Public Hearing for Budget Planning today at Spm Ti 0.
Date AY 2 21.
Hi Jeanette, —'
I feel really bad that I missed the timing of registering for participating in this public hearing.
My sister-in-law, Kiyoko Nanni already registered on time.
Is it OK that I will be listening in over her connection? We shared our feelings, thoughts, and visions for
the future of Kamaainas and the community.
I am not familiar with many areas, but I am very interested in the future for people of Kona, the Big
Island, State of Hawaii and the global community. I
I am an advocate of Culture and the Arts which help enriching lives of people and the land. I believe that
Culture &Arts is the key to stimulate and elevate better economical growth. The Economy can't grow
without the health of the land and its people, that is the fact.
Hawaii has that beauty and setting,so why do we follow such a disastrous way of developing our land
like the Mainland for no good future for Kamaaina nor Aina.
How to use our tax money with what priorities?
I trust that any government puts these areas as their priorities will flourish in the future;
1. Environment: Safe and Healthy Agriculture and its
sustainability on land &sea
2. Education: Kahunas to our Keikis to have opportunities in
Philosophy based learning, resource, apprenticeships/good
traditional practices, build our public schools to be the best place
where they offer many cultural education, awareness, creativity
as well as "basic requirements"
"After-School Matters Program" with a good and solid program for
all the local children and families.
3. Healthcare for All: basic and equal care to be served, not with
privileges. Center for all the cares, including visions and dental

care as a general health care system.

4. Control Real Estate Sales&Taxation: prioritize giving
opportunity to Kamaainas(3 and more generations who live on the
I
island/state?)to purchase as "first-home-owners". Anyone for
the second home and beyond should be taxed at a higher rate.
i
i
5. Public Transportation: Must prioritize the Public Transportation
system for Kamaainas old and young. Building a cityto be
functional only with the public transportation, not only individual j
vehicles, creating more traffic jams and air&water pollution.
These are in mind our today and future concerns, how we will create better living for the islanders...
i
I am very much interested in sitting and participating whenever I can in the future.
Aloha and Mahalo Nui Loa,
