Re: Agreement with University of Hawai`i
Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement with the University of Hawai`i to
collaborate on data visualization projects for a period of five (5)years. There is no
financial obligation to the County, instead the purpose of the agreement is to build a .
community partnership with the University of Hawai`i and support the Department of
Research and Development's work in advancing knowledge and innovation through data
visualization.

A. REQUEST:
A Resolution authorizing the County(via the Department of Research and Development), pursuant to HRS
§46-7, to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of Hawaii at Hilo, to collaborate on data
visualization projects for a period of 5 years from the date of the last signature on the MOU. This MOU does
not provide for any specific payment or exchange of money nor is it intended that either incur any financial
obligations.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The purpose of this MOA is to build community partnership between the University of Hawaii at Hilo and the
County of Hawaii by mutually cooperating and working on collaborative learning projects. Projects are
designed to support the work of the Department of Research and Development in advancing knowledge and
innovation through data visualization.
