Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting the donation of an `Alala(Hawaiian Crow) enclosure
from the Friends of Pana`ewa Zoo, PO Box 738, Kea'au, HI 96749. This `Alala
enclosure, valued at$143,409.04 will be located at the Pana`ewa Zoo and utilized as the
only public exhibit in the world of this endangered native species.

The Friends of Pana'ewa Zoo, a non-profit 1(c){3)organization entered into a Friends of thePana'ewa
Zoo agreement with the Department of Parks and Recreation primarily to help promote Pana'ewa Rainforest
Zoo and Gardens and to contribute to the well-being of the resident animals.
The Friends of Pana'ewa Zoo would like to timate a 'Alala (Hawaiian Crow) enclosure valued at
$143,409.04. Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation of the"Alala
enclosure. A Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens`Alala exhibit is significant because it would be the only
public exhibit of this critically endangered native species in the world, Our zoo has been working with San
Diego Zoo Global who will allow two non-breeding male crows to remain at the zoo on exhibit.
