Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with(1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and with(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (b), of the Hawai`i County Code, which
states that a gift or donation of money, securities, or personal property not covered by the
capitalization procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the
Council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the following
donation:
1,000 loaves of bread valued at approximately$3,000. This donation from
Lili`uokalani Trust shall be distributed to the Department of Parks and
Recreation's island wide Summer Fun programs.
Please send a letter of appreciation to Lili`uokalani Trust, 919 Ululani Street, Hilo, HI

A. REQUEST:
This is a request to create a resolution to accept a donation of 1,000 loaves of bread from Liliuokalani Trust
for this year's Summer Fun programs* island wide.
B, BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Liliuokalani Trust is a private operating foundation founded in 1909 for the benefit of orphan and destitute
children with preference givers to Native Hawaiian children. The Trust serves approximately 10,000 children
annually through direct services and reaches thousands snore through collaborations with community
partners
Through its community partnerships, Liliuokalani Trust has received 1,000 loaves of Dread and desires to donate
it to the Department of Parks and Recreation's island wide Summer Fun programs. This donation is valued at
approximately $3,000.

RE: COMMUNICATION NO. 306 ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION;
1,000 LOAVES OF BREAD VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY$3,000.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
