Additional federally-derived funds in the amount of$4,927 are being provided by the State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division to reduce drug threats and drug related crimes in the State of Hawai`i. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these additional funds into the Hawai`i County Police's Statewide Multi-Jurisdiction Drug Task Force account, bringing the total appropriation to $54,927. The Police Department requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the July 7, 2021 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt of these funds. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review.
