Dear Council Members,
My name is Noreen Luiz and I have been a resident of the Kaupakuea Homestead for 48 years and my husband for 73 years. First of
all, we are thankful for the detour road, but we have been working on the Makea Bridge issues since Hurricane Lane in 2018.The
bridge was terribly undermined and the County deemed it unsafe and blocked the bridge months ago. We,as a community, have
been trying to get the County to address the bridge since the hurricane! We are truly grateful to Heather, our council representative,
for finally getting this project moving. Repairing the bridge will give us back our original road to our community. Much more traffic
uses this bridge due to the closing of the plantation and properties being sold.There are many more homes and farm lots,thus the
increase in traffic, not to mention the tourists trying to find Akaka Falls! More importantly,the response time in the event of an
emergency will be greatly reduced! So, please appropriate the funds to address the bridge issue and we have no other way to
