Aloha! I have had the honor of being the chairperson for the Parks, Water and Roads group in North Kohala. Our group was formed
as part of the 2008 CDP "sub-committees". My involvement with the CDP started in 2006 as one of our efforts to have community

input. I conducted several talk stories. Since I have lived here(1999) 1 have learned of the history of Mahukona and its important
value to the people of Kohala. I've attended several of the meetings about Mahukona Park(from the time when some people
wanted a boat ramp and what to do with the feral cats)until the latest"Save Mahukona" meetings with Mr. Messina and community
residents.
In most of those meetings that related to the CIPS Mahukona Park ALWAYS came up. Each year we were told that"it's going to
happen... be patient another emergency took the money, etc etc" From my observations it's been more than 8 years that we've I
been "patient".
Do what's "pono" and pass the legislation to fund the work that HAS TO BE DONE at Mahukona Park. A lot of our economy depends
on tourism whether from on or off island. To maintain attractions like Mahukona Park those places have to be CLEAN,SAFE,
HEALTHY and INVITING.
