This program will advance COVID-19 and general health literacy efforts to reach minority and underserved populations on Hawaii Island. Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these fields. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $3,000,000 grant. The Department of Research and Development respectfully requests that a breach be authorized to submit this resolution after the June 17, 2021 submission deadline, and to waive it from the Finance Committee in order to be placed on the July 7, 2021 Council agenda. Community First, Inc. will lead an island-wide consortium of health care providers to implement best-practice health literacy interventions, and initiatives that will reach the most vulnerable communities on Hawaii Island.
