Subject: SAVE Mahukona
Aloha, I writing about Mahukona, it is such a special place. That is where my family started our life in Hawaii. In 1979 my
husband and I and our two sons started our life in North Kohala by camping at Mahukona after losing our home, a 83' Coast
Guard Cutter boat that we worked as fisher people and lived on with our boys. We lost our home to a fire with NO insurance, in
the mainland. We started our life over in North Kohala. We finally found a house to rent. Our sons started school at Kohala
Elementary and graduated in 1984 and 1987. We still live here in Hawi and we still go to Mahukona every Weds. night for a fun
filled Bar B Q and musical sunset. We have lived here in North Kohala for the past 42 years. During that time we have seen
Mahukona deteriorate. It is a shame!! Back in 1979 Mahukona had beautiful green grass where our kids would run around and
play ball. Now it's a dirt field with no bathrooms or showers. It's terrible, so sad to see. But we still love our Mahukona and
hope that someday it will come back to what it was once before.
.SAVE MAHUKONA FOR THE PEOPLE OF KOHALA AND THE LOCALE PEOPLE OF THE BIG ISLAND..,.
