Aloha Honorable Councilman,
My name is Dennis Matsuda a life long resident of North Kohala. Born and raised in the plantation camp of Hoea,and a graduate of
Koha|aHigh School. For 68 years I called Kohala Home, but now I live in the 9th Island because we have let change make it too costly
Losurvive comfortably here.
Price of paradise, let's not let Kohala or Hawaiia continue to make living in Hawaii unlivable for locals.
Change,they say everything must change, but we should all learn to make change work for our local communities and not be a
benefit for the rich few who profit from it. Let's make change with the local people not for the developers who don't even live here.
Tourism is a failed claim to sustainability. We see that in the wake of this pandemic. And I can bet this is only the beginning of such
world catastrophes asvveare grossly over populated.
Let's work for the people who voted for you to protect their future and not be swayed by promises of the rich. Let's make Hawaii
sustainable for our people, byour people.
Protect what ever Ainawehave left for our future,for our keiki. Wake up,don't bebrainwashed bythe rich tomake their pockets
full and continue toempty the lifestyles and pockets ofour local Ohana.
