HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 162 Draft 01 2020-2022 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KONA COFFEE FESTIVAL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS 50th KONA COFFEE CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN 2021. WHEREAS, the Kona Coffee Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to preserve, perpetuate, and promote Kona’s coffee heritage; and WHEREAS, 2021 memorializes the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival’s 50th Anniversary, which will honor and pay tribute to nearly two hundred years of Kona Coffee heritage and recognize the accomplishments of Kona Coffee farmers and pioneers; and WHEREAS, the 2021 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, scheduled for November 4th through 7th, will bring people together for in-person events, and due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, will also feature online virtual program experiences to engage the broader community; and WHEREAS, Kona Coffee Festival is requesting funds to pay for commemorative tshirts, buttons, and cookbooks, as well as other supplies or equipment associated with the festival; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such as the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kona Coffee Festival for expenses related to its 50th Kona Coffee Cultural Festival in 2021. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $2,500 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $2,500 CREDITED TO: 010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $2,500 Public Programs 115 Misc. Contract Services (Kona Coffee Festival – 50th Kona Coffee Cultural Festival) BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
