Re: Amend Resolution 16-20
Resolution 16-20 specified that the Mayor would be authorized to enter into a three-year,
multi-year agreement for Nutanix hardware and software, and was adopted on December
23, 2020. The terms of the agreement however, are for a five-year term.
Enclosed is a resolution to amend resolution 16-20 to indicate that the multi-year
agreement be changed from the indicated three-year term to a five-year term.
We would like to request that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee and
be placed on the July 21, 2021 Council Agenda in order to expedite this matter. If there
are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Scott Uehara, Director of the Department
of Information Technology, at 932-2975.

A. REQUEST:
Request to have Resolution No. 16 20, adopted by Council on 1212312020, to be amended. Resolution
currently states the County of Hawaii wishes to enter a three (3) year agreeement for the purchase of
Nutanix hardware and software. Requesting this be amended to a (5) year term agreement.
In order to expedite this, we are requesting to waive the Finance committee and be placed on the July 27,
2021 Council agenda. We are in the final stages of creating an RFP and require this amendment in order to
complete.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Nutanix hardware and software have a warranty and life service of 5+ years. The vendor will be held by
contract to provide maintenance & support on the hardware and software purchased for this term. Original
resolution was submitted under the notation that Information Technology would be in a 3-year lease with a
financial establishment. It did not take into account the term life of the hardware and the warranty service
the vendor would provide under contract with this purchase. It is necessary to ensure maintenance support
and warranty service is provided throughout the duration of the hardware & software's life term.

RE: RESOLUTION NO. 164-21 RESOLUTION TO AMEND RESOLUTION 16-20
AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR FOR A
MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT FOR NUTANIX HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
