Dear Chairman Arakaki
and Members of the County Council:
It is my pleasure to appoint Gail A. Rock as Director of Data
Systems, a newly created department.
Mr. Rock is currently the Data Processing Manager for the
Department of Data Systems. He earned a B.S. degree in
Engineering at Penn State University, an M.S. degree in
Computer Science at New Mexico State University, and is a
graduate of the New York Institute of Finance.
His work experience includes Ford Motor Company, IBM, college
computer instructor, investment executive, small business owner
and computer consultant. He also served in the U.S. Marine
Corps.
Mr. Rock joined the County in 1979 and has been instrumental in
automating many of the County's business systems and moving the
County toward Y2K compliance. He meets the qualifications
established in the Hawaii County Charter.
Thank you for your favorable consideration of Mr. Rock as
Director of Data Systems.
