Subject: Animal shelters
Dear Hawaii County Council Member, My name is Anisha Nelson, I have lived on the big island my whole life. Born and Raised. I own
nine dogs and have adopted majority of them. Im sure you have animals of your own. I woke up this morning to find a facebook post
stating that the state council would no longer fund animal shelters,that they had three days to find homes for the animals or theyd
be euthanized. My stomach turned. I wondered,how could this be?Who made this decision?These vets worked so hard to save
these animals, nursed them back to health,vaccinated them,spayed and neutered them and many have taken these animals into
their own homes to prevent them from being thrown on the streets.All of this isnt easy work but they did it in hopes that these
animals get adopted, So why are you taking this away from them?Who are we to decide what or who gets to live or die?We are not
gods. We should not ever have the right to dictate this matter.These animals deserve a fighting chance.This is why I ask you to
extend the period from three days to thirty so these animal shelters can find homes for these animals.To throw them out on the
streets,To euthanize them, Would be a great waste of"Mans Bestfriend". I sincerely hope you reconsider.
