Aloha,
My name is Frannie Pueo, Founder of Hui Pono Holoholona/PAWS a 501c3 Spay and Neuter organization.
My concerns are in the selection of the next County Humane Society, in that they are professionally trained, and have already
shelter facilities to receive and process as much as 600 cats and dogs a month as soon as accepting the contract.
Attach is an analysis of HRR and HIHS Intake of cats and dogs on a monthly basis compared over a nine month duration. Very
basic to see the amount of cats/dogs HIHS serviced 6,795 and short comings 2,115 of HRR.
HIHS serviced approximately 4,680 more cats and dogs than HRR in a nine month span.
Also, HRR have been using a Veterinarian who will not do pregnant animals, and feral pregnant cats in traps are not done, and
leaving the caregiver to try to find a Veterinarian who will,to their own cost. What most often is happening is the trap
pregnant cat is released to add to the animal overpopulation. In another case, caregiver not told the animal was not done,
when called Rainbow, was told "We don't kill".
As long as County spay and Neuter fund are being used, all pregnant animals should be done in less it jeopardizes the animals
health. I respect the choice a Veterinarian not to abort, but if County funds are being used, then an organization should use
one that will.
I hope to testify this July 6th, as there are other points of concern for the New County Contract Humane Society. Also questions
on HRR Intake/Outcome monthly Stats and current population totals at their HRR facilities.
With Aloha
Frannie Pueo
