Subject: Hawaii's Animals
Aloha,
To all our council members and Chief Ferriera, I agree with the termination of the Animal Control Contract with
Hawaii Rainbow Rangers. Although I do not agree with the way you are conducting the termination, displacing these
pets and euthanizing those who have nowhere to go is inhumane. With all due respect, the decision to contract HRR
was yours and the long overdue termination was also in your hands. With all the complaints that must've been
received and all the animals that HRR are still unable to achieve adoption, it should have been a clear sign that these
animals and our community needed help... these animals are innocent and can't speak up for themselves.
The $100,000 per month that the contract bides by, is a large amount to not be checking in on these facilities and
making sure the community is overall satisfied with their services. Ensuring animal control progression would
increase should have been the main priority within this department. Now 3 days before the month ends the contract is
being terminated and HPD will be taking over the confiscation and euthanaisa of all these pets? That's solely
irresponsible behavior being conducted on the behalf of our council members.
This is a clear indication our government fails to provide the care and services for its community and its animals,
which is the largest overall problem here in the state of Hawaii. Each and every one of you has a portion of family
that make up our whole "community" and you don't need to be an animal lover to know that the way this is being
handled is wrong. With no plan in place this will create a larger problem for our community. I am sending this email
to humbly ask you reconsider the time frame given to rehome these pets and figure out the community's Animal
Control Contract. The community and myself would greatly appreciate this be handed property and an effective plan
be put into place and presented to our community before any drastic changes are made.

I'd assume that that 100,000 a month to a rescue organization that checks in on these facilities and makes sure the
adoption rate would community is overall satisfied.
