I moved to Kurtistown and Happy Homes Subdivision in 1993 when this was Old Airstrip Road. It
has now been renamed Momona Road and has always been a peaceful place to call home. Life
drastically changed when in early 2000 property nearby on North Road (8 Mile Road) was purchased
and used as The Rainbow Animal Sanctuary. This was done without discussion with or concern for
our previously quiet little neighborhood. The excessive loud barking from what sounded like
hundreds of dogs would awaken me with heart palpitations in the middle of the night. That sleep
deprivation had disrupted my life to the extent that I had to move my sleeping room to the other side of
my home. I felt sorry for neighbors whose homes were smaller and didn't have a choice to have better
undisturbed sleep.
I used to get exercise walking up North Road and had to stop that due to the stench from the
sanctuary. When the wind would change directions that stench would fill my home as well.
Recently many feral cats prowl the neighborhood terrorizing my cat. She was on 'guard' constantly
and wasn't her usual self. Fortunately we have caught 2 but not sure after they are returned the
'sanctuary' if they are let loose again. These feral cats endanger the neighborhood's family pets.

The worst thing that has occurred is the speeding traffic that we never had to deal with before. People
coming to drop off animals or'work' groups brought in, possibly troubled youth or even adult
troublemakers to work there. Now we have more robberies than ever before possibly due to these
folks checking out our neighborhood to commit their dirty deeds.
I hope you will help us become that peaceful friendly neighborhood again.
