Dear Council Members,
I'm writing to ask you to please pass the resolution allowing Mahukona to become Publicly owned. There are so
many of us who love Mahukona, and it holds special memories, and promises many more to come for us and for
future generations. With so much of Kohala becoming inaccessible to locals, with fences and gates and restrictions, it
is particularly important for us to continue to have a place we can gather and be comfortable, and thrive as a
community.
As you know,there is a group who has been meeting every Wednesday night for over 25 years to share food and
music and companionship. We are just one of many such groups of locals who call Mahukona home. I believe that
we can be responsible and loving stewards of this land if given the opportunity.
Please pass this resolution and let Kohala take care of Mahukona, to let us Malama ka Aina......
