COUNTY OF HAWAIII

WHEREAS, Malarna Wai'aha, in collaboration with Hawaii resident Michael
Denney is donating two historical signs to the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and
Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the two historical signs, valued at approximately $10,000, will be
located at Wai'aha Beach Park to commemorate the birthplace of the bodyboard; and
WHEREAS, Article X111, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
council, on behalf of the county, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
accordance with Article X111, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the County of
Hawaii, accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Malama Wai'aha, c/o 75-5789 Makamae Place, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Department of Parks and Recreation,the Department of Finance, and the
Office of the Mayor.
