Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of twelve Air-gain antenna and cradle point
units, and associated hardware from SSFM International, 501 Summer Street, Suite 620,
Honolulu, Hawaii 96817. This equipment, valued at $34,068.56, will be mounted on
blue and white fleet vehicles of the Hawaii County Police Department to extend the
range of cell phones and Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in areas of poor reception.

A. REQUEST.
Requesting acceptance of twelve (12)Air-gain antenna units, cradle point units and associated hardware.
These units were provided to the Hawaii Police Department and mounted into a number of blue and white
fleet vehicles as part of a test program to determine if the air-gain units would be beneficial to public safety.
The units are owned by SSFM International and were provided through a grant from State of Hawaii
Homeland Security.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The air-gain test program has concluded and our tests determined that these air-gain units provided
excellent coverage in some areas where a regular cellphone just didn't work or had very poor reception.
This allowed our Officers to use their Mobile Data Terminal (MDT)laptop computers and place cellphone
calls using wi-fi calling. This will benefit public safety as it allows for first responders to maintain
communications in areas where there is limited or no cellular and/or Land Mobile Radio coverage. These
devices are valued at $34,068.56.
