RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $2,094.40 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
WHEREAS, Big Island Candies is donating $2,094.40 to the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Elderly Activities division; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to support the division’s Nutrition Home Delivered Meals program; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Department of Finance has requested that cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal Resolution process; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Sherrie Ann E. Holi, Big Island Candies585 Hinano Street, Hilo, HI 96720, and that a copy
of this resolution be sent to the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Finance and the Office of the Mayor to acknowledge this generous donation.
