Acting Chair Heather L. Kimball requested that Mr. Rodenhurst look into and provide information on
whether decisions have ever been made based on the data collected from the gauges.
Per Committee Member Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz's inquiry, Ms. Sako and Mr. Rodenhurst
confirmed that the program is a federal requirement.
Ms. Kierkiewicz requested that Mr. Rodenhurst provide information on how current data has been used
and if there is any flexibility for USGS (United States Geological Survey) to look at other data sets that
may be more useful if the data gathered has not been useful to date.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13, Hawaii County Charter, the
Mayor is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend funds for contracts with private parties, other
counties, the State, or the United States government for functions or activities which the county is
authorized to perform,
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 174-21, and
recommends its adoption.
