SUBJECT: Request for Presentation by Department of Research and Development on
Film Industry Permitting Process
Due to public inquiry relating to the environmental protection of our island and its communities,
by means of this communication I am respectfully requesting a 15-minute presentation by and a
30-minute discussion with Research and Development Director Douglass Adams and/or his
designee, relating to the film industry on Hawaii Island and its permitting process, including any
environmental obligations to be followed, in general, and in relation to the production of"Love
Island".
I humbly request that this matter be referred to the appropriate committee for its August 17, 2021
agenda, to address immediate concerns of the public as the production of"Love Island" is
scheduled to conclude by the end of August. Should you have any questions regarding this
