Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of the following people to serve on the Hawaii County Salary
Commission.
• Jason A. Hashimoto of Puna to replace Cornelia L. Anguay of Puna. Mr. Hashimoto is a lifetime
resident of Hawaii since 1989 has been the vice-president/manager for Hashimoto Nursery. He is
active in community affairs, having membership to the Hilo Jaycees, the Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai, the
Pahoa Little League, the Kyu Pahoa Kumiai, the Puna Hongwanji Mission and the Hawaii Anthurium
Industry Association. He has no political party affiliation.
• Tracy E. Lauder of Puna to replace Randolph T. Kai of Ka'u, who had resigned. Since 1970, Mr.
Lauder has been aself-employed farmer. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
If approved, Mr. Hashimoto will serve the balance of the unexpired term, which will end on December 31,
2003, and he will be the Puna District's representative. Mr. Lauder will also serve the balance of the un-
expired term, which will end on December 31, 2002 and will be an at-large member.
