Re: Operating Budget
In the current Budget Ordinance 21-38, there are estimated revenues of$1,200,000 in the
Office of Aging's Area flan on Aging account. Additional federally-derived funds in the
amount of$1,327,797 are being provided by the State Executive Office of Aging under
the American Rescue Plan Act of 202 Ito carry out the services and supports outlines in
the Older Americans Act of 1965 with a focus on alleviating the effects of the COVID-19
pandemic on seniors.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Office of Aging's Area Plan on Aging account, bringing the
total estimated federal revenue to $2,527,797. If there are any questions,please do not

A. REQUEST:
To appropriate an additional $1,327,797.00 for the Area Flan on Aging OCE under account number
010.411.5411.10.115 and revenue account number 3301.04 (Federal Grants)
S. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS DEEDED):
Office of Aging received funding under the American Rescue Flan Act of 2021 through the State Executive
Office on Aging in the amount of$1,327,797.00. In order to expend these funds it is necessary to increase
our appropriation.
Pursuant to the guidance of the State Executive Office on Aging, these funds shall be used exclusively to carry
out the services and supports outlined in the Older Americans Act of 1905 with a focus on alleviating the
effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on seniors. Services related to disaster relief such as expanding nutrition
programs; shifting healthy aging programs to electronic formats and modifiying transportation services will
remain a priority of our office. A portion of these funds must be used to disseminate credible information
regarding COVID-19 vaccines and expanding access to COVID-19 vaccines.
