WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions <br />harmony and balance among the diverse people of Hawaii i and encourages each person to <br />contribute their deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, in response to the COVfD-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, <br />Friends of the Future has established an emergency "Grab and Go" community deeding program <br />through collaboration with local, certified restaurants to provide prepared meals for the <br />vulnerable populations in Waimea; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Future has collaborated with North Hawaii Community <br />Hospital for COVID-19 vaccination services to be provided to interested individuals who utilize <br />the emergency "Grab and Go" community feeding program; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds for expenses related to its <br />emergency "Grab and Go" community feeding program, including purchases for food and <br />supplies required for meal preparation, serving, distribution, and cleanup; and <br />WHEREAS, this project falls within the Department of Research and Development's <br />mission to support community programs that enhance the standard of living and economic <br />viability of businesses in Hawaii County; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for its emergency "Grab <br />and Go" community feeding program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
