Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 183-21, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 183-21, transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 352,
dated July 30, 2021, authorizes the acceptance of a donation of twelve air-gain antenna and cradle point
units, and associated hardware to the Hawaii Police Department.
The donation from SSFM International, valued at $34,068.56 would be mounted on the department's
blue and white fleet vehicles to extend the range of cell phones and Mobile Data Terminals in areas of
poor reception.
Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder provided comments thanking SSFM International for the
donation.
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate. In addition, j
Section 2-162(a), Hawaii County Code, states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or
personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance may be
accepted by resolution approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 183-21, and
recommends its adoption.
