Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 184-21, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 184-21, transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 353,
dated July 30, 2021, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation of$2,094.40 to the Department of
Parks and Recreation.
The donation from Big Island Candies would be used to support the department's Elderly Activities
division's Nutrition Home Delivered Meals program.
There was no discussion on the measure.
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter,the Council may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate. In addition,
Section 2-162(a), Hawaii County Code, states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or
personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance may be
accepted by resolution approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 184-21, and
recommends its adoption.
