No. 346/Bill No. 60 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety, to which was referred Bill No. 60, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 60, transmitted via Communication No. 346, from Sue Lee Loy, Council Member for <br /> District 3, dated July 29, 2021, amends Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15-62, of the Hawaii <br /> County Code 1983 (2016 edition, as amended), relating to the membership and tenure of the <br /> Veterans Advisory Committee. <br /> This measure would remove six existing veteran organizations that provide representatives to <br /> serve on the Veterans Advisory Committee and increases at-large membership from one member <br /> to seven members. <br /> Deputy Corporation Counsel J Yoshimoto and Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Michelle <br /> Hiraishi from Department of Parks and Recreation were available in Hilo Chambers for questions. <br /> Ms. Lee Loy briefly commented that testifiers Michael Doolittle and Debra Lewis, members of <br /> the current Veterans Advisory Committee, explained in their testimony why these changes were <br /> being made.
