There are over 36 million Americans who had covid and recovered from it. Myself included. That number likely underestimates
actual cases from individuals who were asymptomatic or had a very mild case. Covid recoverers have long lasting natural immunity
to reinfection. We know this from CDC data as well as lessons learned from SARS-Cool back in the early 2000s.
I am opposed to any one-size-fits-all policy prescriptions involving a covid vaccine that do not recognize natural immunity of those
previously infected.
I asked my doctor whether he recommended the vaccine for those who have recovered from covid. He does not recommend it, due
to natural immunity as well as unknown long term effects. This in spite of the increased transmissibility of the delta variant. Then he
said something shocking. He said he risks losing his medical license for dispensing this advice. Reasonable folks believe that
important medical decisions should be made after consultation with your doctor. But apparently a PhD in Washington DC who was
never a practicing physician knows more about my medical needs than my own doctor.
We are continually assured that these experimental vaccines are safe, in spite of mounting evidence to the contrary(heart issues in
young men, reproductive issues in women). No one can speak to long-term effects; not Fauci, not Walensky, not the heads of the
companies that manufacture the vaccines. Yet you are forced to release the manufacturer from all liability if you want a vaccine.
Those who choose not to get the vaccine out of concern for unknown effects should not be ostracized. This is especially true if you
have recovered from covid,as we have exactly the same immunity to and transmissibility of the virus as vaccinated people.
Now we are told we are irresponsible and even immoral if we don't get the vaccine;that we are putting peoples lives at risk. This
narrative is pervasive in the media and under the current political administration. Please do not fall for it. The policy goal must be
ensuring people don't have an active case of covid, not ensuring they are vaccinated.
