My name is Elizabeth Wright. I am at Big Island residence living here full-time for over 46 years. I am semi retired with a small transient business in the Volcano area with a Legal license in good standings. I live in Kona but visit the volcano area for recreation and business. My husband and I are considering retiring here. Last year I attended the first annual volcano Experience Event of last year to help the community with my personal and business support. I life to keep abreast of current information and places to eat and visit for the guests that stay at our rental. It was a great experience. This year on August 14, 2021, I decided to attend the second annual volcano experience event, but did not have the same experience. I believed it to be a friendly experience which takes place to encourage local and mainland visitors to enjoy the big Island Volcano area, it's national park, the scenery, the arts and the people, while supporting floundering local business. I was enjoying the outdoor vendors and music, walking on the side of the road between events till someone harassed me to put on a mask. I met many other people walking on the road without masks but they chose to pick on me, I keep my distance 6 It distance and ask them to do the same. If workers need to say things for their jobs I understand , but when they continue to demand action, stock you and tell you comply or be threatened, is beyond offensive into harassment. The harassment was uncalled for, unnecessary and unlawful. The governor's most current mandates as of August 5 allow for medical exemptions and outdoor non-use according to emergency proclamation exhibit A on the governors website. If the governor allows exemptions I have a sovereign right to them. Comm. No. eF.To: V RZp6G 1 Ref. gate AUG 1 I I will wear a mask if I have to indoors but I won't if I don't have to. I have a medical condition that allows me to have exemptions. I have sovereign say over my health and body. I choose to breath air freely to maintain a healthy presence in society. I believe THAT is in the best interest of the community....to be healthy and free of sickness. I am asking you to make it known to people in charge to know their boundaries. The lack of customer service was appalling and a detriment to our community. I'm asking for you to send the word to honor exemptions. Ultimately, the main purpose Is to bring in more business to Volcano not less. That happens when everyone is 1 happy. People will bring a friend next time instead of staying away and spreading the news of their terrible experience. When everyone is happy it's a win, win. i I I I ask you inform those involved enforcing covid mandates to honor people with exemptions with respect, rather than 5 intimidation and harassment. i Mahalo, I Elizabeth Wright Sent from my iPhone 'i i 3 3 J 2
