Subject: Support for Honua`ula Living Community

Aloha Councilmember Inaba:
I am writing in strong support of Honua`ula Living Community's 201H application to build 112
affordable apartments in your district.

Our communities have been dealing with problems associated with the lack of affordable
housing for a long time and the COVID crisis has made it that much more urgent. Our island 3
would greatly benefit from your approval of Honua`ula Living Community to effectively address
this issue.

Our organization staff and clients have experienced first-hand the impact of having a lack
of affordable housing stock in our communities. This has led to an increase in housing
instability for working families and uncertainty, at this time in particular, as to whether or
not they will be able to stay in their homes after losing their jobs or having their income
reduced. I hope that through the approval of Honua`ula Living Community's 201H application,
our County will move closer to effectively address this long-standing issue and provide our
residents with much needed housing.
