I have many areas of concern. The main ones are as follows:
1. Traffic—Our subdivision already experiences high traffic. School traffic already impacts the
neighborhood with excessive traffic making it difficult for some to get in and out of their
driveways and creating a dangerous situation. Added multi-family housing projects in the area
will significantly increase this problem. Traffic studies performed for this project were
performed during Covid related school closure and do not provide an accurate assessment.
Included under this topic is the added street parking that will be the result of a project that only
provides 1 (maybe 2) parking spots for its' residence. Street parking in the surrounding area is
already at a maximum and poses problems.
2. Property Values—Property values in the near-by surrounding areas will drop because of a
project of this type. The area surrounding this project already has at least 5 low-income type
projects and this community cannot absorb another nor should it be asked to.
3. Kealakehe Elementary and Intermediate Schools—These schools are already overcrowded and
at this time cannot absorb an increase in enrollment without a negative impact on the already
overcrowded classrooms. A project of this type will overcrowd these schools.
4. The Project does not provide adequate outdoor space for its' residence. This will result in
residence roaming the vicinity of the project, gathering outdoors in larger groups creating noise,
smoke, etc. This will be a negative impact on the immediate community.
5. A 4-story building is not esthetically complimentary to the existing community.
Thank you for considering my concerns.
