Subject: Support to Pass Bill 44 without Amendments

I
I am writing in strong support of passing Bill 44 without amendments.
Our communities have been dealing with problems associated with the lack of affordable housing
for a long time and the COVID crisis has made it that much more urgent. Our island would greatly
benefit from passing of Bill 44 without amendments.

Additional amendments to Bill 44 will limit innovation, choice and increase cost to building by
embracing a single method of housing construction. Factory built homes are a part of the solution
of desperately needed affordable housing in Hawaii County.

As the Family Services Manager at Habitat for Humanity,I work with the demographic of families
that are looking for affordable homes, to no avail. The ability to expand our product options to
factory built homes would increase our potential to help more Big Island families become
homeowners.
