Subject: Opposition to Bills 52 and 53
August 16, 2021
I, Holly Crane am a resident and member of the Kona community and I oppose Bills 52 and 53.
1 believe that agriculture is critical to the sustainability of our town and our island. We shouldn't have to depend so heavily on the
mainland for 85-901 of our food. We need diversity and sustainability.
I feel responsible and ethical development is important as we move forward. Developers should be held accountable for their
words and actions. They should respect our culture, archaeological sites, natural resources, and our community.
The Kona Community Development Plan's guiding principle is: to protect and preserve open space, natural beauty, agricultural
lands, cultural and environmental resources. If we can hold this as our standard and guide as well, I believe we can begin to lead
Kona to a better future for our keiki.
For these reasons I oppose Bills 52 and 53. Please vote no to both bills.
Mahalo,
Holly Crane
