Building A Kailua-Kona, 1-1196740 { Subject: Support for Honua'ula Living Community I Aloha Councilmember Inaba: I am writing in strong support of Honua'ula Living Community's 201H application to build 112 affordable apartments in your district. t Our communities have been dealing with problems associated with the lack of affordable housing for a long;time and the COVID crisis has made it that much more urgent. Our island would greatly benefit from your approval of Honua'ula hiving Community to effectively address this issue. My family has leased and managed 9 '!z acre coffee farm the past90 years. On Nopopoo road. The property has been cleaned and managed from my grandparents to my mother, father, aunts and uncles. My whole family has lived on the property for all of the 90 years. Bishop has recently mentioned to the family that the lease will go up in Aug and the family would have to renew the lease. The property will need to be followed up with all the new state standards, including putting in a new septic tank ect... my family has came to a conclusion that in order to resign the new lease it would be so complicated and emotional for the family. I have lived in a coffee shack on the property for 45 yrs. When the lease goes up I will have to find a house. I have already been looking for houses now, but they are so expensive for me dealing with I am a single father and have my two kids on the weekends. I support the honuaula living community project for myself and all my community. I hope that through the approval of Honua'ula Living Community's 20111 application, our County will move closer to effectively address this long-standing issue and provide our residents with much needed housing. Thank you for considering Honua'ula Living Community's 201H application. Sincerely, C,q sw4et" G Name `.i IN 00 z i Comm. No. _ Ref. To: Ref, Date SEP - 8 2021
