COUNTY OF HAWAPI STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> RESOLUTION N . <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT ANIS CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MA`ONA <br /> COMMUNITY GARDEN TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS <br /> CARDBOARD SHREDDING EVENT'S IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 6® <br /> WHEREAS, the Ma`ona Community Garden is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> focuses on green infrastructure, food systems, community health, land restoration, and <br /> composting; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2016, Ma`ona Community Garden established its community <br /> composting project to produce mulch and high-grade soil amendments for gardeners, reduce the <br /> generation of waste, and extend the life of our landfills; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ma`ona Community Garden will hold a series of cardboard shredding <br /> events in Council Districts 6, 7 and 8 to divert cardboard from landfills to create packaging <br /> material, garden mulch, and high-grade soil amendments; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ma`ona Community Garden is requesting funds to purchase supplies, <br /> equipment, and other miscellaneous items associated with its cardboard shredding events; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public <br /> and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, <br /> such as Ma`ona Community Garden's cardboard shredding events; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> DE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Ma`ona Community Garden for expenses related to its <br /> cardboard shredding events in Council District 6. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RE SOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
