A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MA‘ONA COMMUNITY
GARDEN TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS CARDBOARD SHREDDING EVENTS IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 8.
WHEREAS, the Ma‘ona Community Garden is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that focuses on green infrastructure, food systems, community health, land restoration, and composting; and
WHEREAS, Ma‘ona Community Garden will hold a series of cardboard shredding events in Council Districts 6, 7 and 8 to divert cardboard from landfills to create packaging material, garden
mulch, and high-grade soil amendments; and
WHEREAS, Ma‘ona Community Garden is requesting funds to purchase supplies, equipment, and other miscellaneous essentials associated with the cardboard shredding events; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, such
as Ma‘ona Community Garden’s cardboard shredding events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Ma‘ona Community Garden for expenses related to its cardboard shredding events in Council District 8.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
