RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
DONATION OF A LIVE FIND TRACKING K9 WITH K9 AND
HANDLER TRAINING TO THE COUNTY OF HAWA `I POLICE
DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island K9 Association is donating one (1) Live Find Tracking
K9 with K9 and handler training to the County of Hawaii Police Department; and
WHEREAS, this Live Find Tracking K9, valued at approximately $16,000 (with
training), will assist emergency responders in tracking missing children and endangered
adults; and
WHEREAS, this Live Find Tracking K9 will be placed with the Hawaii Police
Department's Juvenile Aid Section to replace the present K9 that is due to retire; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
council, on behalf of the county, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, , in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the County of
Hawaii, accepts the donation of this Live Find Tracking K9 with K9 and handler training.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Tammy Passmore, Board Chair, Hawaii Island K9 Association, P.O.
Box 6667, Hilo, HI 96720.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Police Department, the Department of Finance and the Office of the Mayor.
