RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION CREATING TWO (2) NEW FIRE CAPTAIN AND THREE (3) NEW FIRE FIGHTER POSITIONS FOR THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, County of Hawaiʻi was awarded funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant; and
WHEREAS, with the creation of two (2) new Fire Captain and three (3) new Fire Fighter positions, the department will be better equipped to provide enhanced services to the public and
increase safety within Hawai‘i County; and
WHEREAS, the positions indicated above are Fire Captain, SR-25 and Fire Fighter, SR-17 positions; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawai‘i County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to “Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...”;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that two (2) new Fire Captain and three (3) new Fire Fighter positions be created in the Hawai‘i County Fire Department.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, the Department of Human Resources, and the Hawai‘i Fire Department.
