RE: Bill 143, Draft 3
Relating to Real Property Taxes
This is to transmit Bill 143, Draft 3 relating to real property taxes, which was the result of an
amendment made at the Council's meeting of December 15, 1999. Specifically, the amendment
stated that the County does not recognize the exemption from real property taxation in chapter
239, Hawaii Revised Statutes. It also claimed and would accept excess portions of the public
service company tax revenues in lieu of collecting real property taxes from those public utilities.
