Subject: Spending of ARPA Funds in Hawaii County
To whom it may concern;
As a board member of several non-profit organization in Puna, I witness first-hand the needs of this community on a daily basis. My
participation encompasses business,education, religious and tourism communities,each of which have their own unique struggles
following the 2018 Kilauea eruption and the almost 18-month-long battle with COVID-19.We in the Puna District have very specific
plans for recovery and rehabilitation of our communities that include employment opportunities,sustainable agriculture and
revitalizing the sense of community here.
I highly recommend that the council strongly consider granting ARPA funds to those organizations on the ground in Puna working
diligently on this revitalization effort.
