Re: Nomination of Faylene Mahina Paishon-Duarte to the

Through this letter, I would like to provide written testimony to support the nomination of
Mahina Paishon-Duarte to the Leeward Planning Commission. I have known Mahina in a
professional capacity for the past two years;Mahina is currently an advisor for the planning and
implementation of our `Climate Resilient&Agricultural Innovation Hub for Women Farmers
of Hawai'i County'. This program will pilot innovations and practices to achieve climate and
economic resilience through support to women farmers and entrepreneurs along the Hamakua
Coast and elsewhere on the island. Mahina's advice and support to the establishment of our
relationships with native Hawaiian organizations and communities has been invaluable in this
endeavor. I know her to be a woman of impeccable integrity and wisdom, and sincerely hope
that she will be nominated to this important position, where I believe she can make significant
contributions.
