Benson Medina I am writing on behalf of Hui 'Oihana, Hawaii Island's Native Hawaiian Chamber of
Commerce,to provide support to the nomination of Faylene Mahina Paishon-Duarte to

Margaret Stanley Hawaii and is poised to represent community voices as a member of the commission.
Treasurer Mahina has advocated for the voices of community, 'aina, and a sustainable economy on
Kimo Lee Hawaii Island and across our state. Land use on Hawai'i Island is complex and it takes a
leader connected to our lands to advise the County of Hawai'i on land use for West
Assistant Treasurer Hawai'i. Mahina has strong lineal ties to both Kona and Kohala, and is current a resident of
zeda Medina H61ualoa.She has served on the various boards incluing the The Trust for Public Land and

Past President values education and 'Olelo Hawai'i and has served as the Head of School at Kanu o ka
Richard Ha 'Aina Public Charter School. During the pandemic, she supported collaborative work with
the Kuauli Digital Opportunities Initiative to connect families with the technology they
Directors need to support their keiki in distance learning.
Darren Elisaga Our Chamber's mission is to strengthen the Native Hawaiian community and businesses by
Mike Kaleikini supporting a thriving economy rooted in language, culture, and aloha. Mahina exudes all
Kanoe Pu'uohau of our organization's values as the current Managing Partner and Co-founder of Waiwai
Lani Weigert Collective and we appreciate her service to community, advocacy for our'aina, and her
leadership. She was also a founding organizer of the 'Aina Aloha Economic Futures
initiative,to ensure that Hawai'i focuses on growing sustainable and resilient economies.
This is only a tiny snapshot of her commitment and service to our community.
