No. 393/Res No. 204-21 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:15 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 204-21, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 204-21,transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 393 <br /> dated September 2, 2021, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the <br /> State of Hawai`i Department of Education. <br /> This resolution provides $75,000 from the Department of Research and Development to support <br /> Ka`ti High and Pahala Elementary Schools Agri-preneurship Academy project. <br /> Research and Development Energy Specialist Riley Saito provided background on the program, <br /> including funding need. <br /> Per Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz's request, Research and Development Director <br /> Douglas Adams confirmed that this funding would be considered an innovation grant. <br /> Ms. Kierkiewicz then asked if the schools are in charge of collecting data. Mr. Saito stated that the <br /> program's aquaponic output would likely be the tracked output. <br /> Committee Member Heather L. Kimball asked if there is state funding for the program.
