RE: Nonprofit Final Reports
For your review and perusal, attached you will find the final year-end report of Rose House Inc. as
required of all County-funded nonprofit organizations. This report has been reviewed by our office and
is in conformance with the Code.
Specifically, Section 2-142(d), Hawaii County Code states:
In the case of grants, the nonprofit organization shall submit a final written report to
the legislative auditor within sixty (60) days after June 30 of the fiscal year. The
report shall include an explanation of the public benefits derived from the awarding of
the grants and a listing of other funding sources and amounts obtained during the
award period.

1. Public Benefit Derived
The public benefited directly through use of Hawaii county funding because
women in recovery tend to be more responsible towards their own fives, community,
and family. By being more responsible they break fewer laws, are role models for their
children and peers which encourages the ones directly affected to behave accordingly.
As a result in the decrease in the crime rate, it cost the public less money. Through
becoming employed and self-sufficient, the fiscal and moral impact becomes a positive
instead of a negative.
2. How County money aids in meeting the critical mission of the program funded.
The Rose House Mission is "to provide a SAFE place for the willing woman to
live while learning to recover from substance abuse"....... "with the goal being to
integrate the recovering, productive member back into home and society with
a..........foundation geared to self-reliance." County funds assisted our mission while
making the home safe by:
? Maintaining the requirements in our liability insurance as stated in the fiscal report
? Being able to afford liability insurance
? Maintain the upkeep of our vehicle which is used in direct services to the clients.
? The purchase of educational material which aids the woman in applying the
knowledge received in her required 12 step material
? Utilities, such as Telephone and Electric
3. How agency is meeting it's goals and objectives
Part of the goals and objectives of Rose House is to assist the woman in making
and reaching her own personal goals. Upon entry each client is asked what are the four
main things she wishes to accomplish while at Rose House. This becomes a major part
of her service plan. In our weekly house meeting accomplished objectives from a short
term goal list are discussed and a new list turned in for the upcoming week. Rose
House provides transportation to places that require travel. We provide an all around
supportive environment to not only help, but to show clients how to reach their goals.
We maintain (when reasonable) contact with alumni. This encourages not only the
graduate to continue on a positive path but shows the present client that "it can be
done". Interagency networking is also invaluable. One of the many is our public health
nurse who not only aids them in making safe choices about STD's etc., but also has a
rap session about schools, employment and gives direction on some of the best
avenues are to begin.

4. Statistics on the number of clients served.
In the past two fiscal years, 1997/98 and 1998/99, 35 women have been served
by Rose House. Statistics are as such:
? 17 women or 49% have remained abstinent
? 07 or 20% have reduced their misuse or drug abuse
? 32 or 91 % have completed at least 85% of their initial service plan
? 24 or 69% have shown a marked improvement in their interpersonal relationships
? 09 or 26% entered into education and/or employment
? 05 or 14% have transitioned off of welfare
