�SM4Ya OF kf�1 <br /> y •°r <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAM <br /> 1yTE oF°i►^'�� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 235 <br /> ii <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HO`OLA VETERAN <br /> SERVICES FOR ITS HAWAII FARM-TO-CAR PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Ho`61a Veteran Services (dba Ho`61a Farms) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to provide veterans, caregivers, and their families the opportunity <br /> to reconnect with themselves, each other, and the earth by providing agricultural training, hands- <br /> on educational opportunities, and therapy options; and <br /> WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has created obstacles and barriers for local <br /> farmers to deliver and sell produce to customers; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ho`ola Veteran Services has taken over the Hilo County Farm Bureau's <br /> Hawaii Farm-to-Car program to help farmers and local residents stay safe by providing an <br /> online farmers market with a weekly, curbside pickup at Puna Hongwanji Mission; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawaii Farm-to-Car program is free for farmers and producers to join, <br /> and Ho`ola Veteran Services provides assistance to new vendors who may need help with <br /> applying for their General Excise Tax Liscense; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ho`ola Veteran Services is requesting funds for facility fees, signs, <br /> printing, bags, and other miscellaneous expenses for its Hawaii Farm-to-Car program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the development of <br /> a local economy that is diverse, stable, and in balance with Hawai`i's ecology, community <br /> character, and cultural heritage; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Ho`61a Veteran Services for its Hawaii Farm- <br /> to-Car program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
