i 1 3 i COUNTY OF cI STATE OF HAWAII 1rr oF'x�'� J SOLUTION NO. 236 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF TWO CONCRETE ABSTRACT ART PRINTS TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. WHEREAS, Davit Mirzoyan is a professional artist with original works that are curated in collections of state establishments in Armenia and coveted by private collectors in Armenia, Belgium, and the United States; and WHEREAS, Davit Mirzoyan has traveled and lived around the world, and has chosen to move to Puna, Hawaii Island to continue his artistic and creative contributions; and WHEREAS, Davit Mirzoyan would like to donate two limited-edition, signed and framed, concrete abstract art prints to the County of Hawaii to honor the primal energy of the island; and WHEREAS, each print complements the other, offering up visual poetry of life on the island through an array of colors: dark and warm tones of red, orange, yellow, and black representing volcanic energy and the beginning of life, as well as brighter, cool tones of blue, green,purple, and pink representing the proliferation of life on land and in the sea; and WHEREAS, the artist has requested these prints be displayed in the offices of the Mayor and Council District 4; and WHEREAS, the prints are valued at$1,250 each, for a total value of$2,500; and WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter,provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code, states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance,may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor and Council District 4 recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
