i <br /> 1 <br /> 3 <br /> i <br /> COUNTY OF cI STATE OF HAWAII <br /> 1rr oF'x�'� <br /> J <br /> SOLUTION NO. 236 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF TWO <br /> CONCRETE ABSTRACT ART PRINTS TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, Davit Mirzoyan is a professional artist with original works that are curated <br /> in collections of state establishments in Armenia and coveted by private collectors in Armenia, <br /> Belgium, and the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, Davit Mirzoyan has traveled and lived around the world, and has chosen to <br /> move to Puna, Hawaii Island to continue his artistic and creative contributions; and <br /> WHEREAS, Davit Mirzoyan would like to donate two limited-edition, signed and <br /> framed, concrete abstract art prints to the County of Hawaii to honor the primal energy of the <br /> island; and <br /> WHEREAS, each print complements the other, offering up visual poetry of life on the <br /> island through an array of colors: dark and warm tones of red, orange, yellow, and black <br /> representing volcanic energy and the beginning of life, as well as brighter, cool tones of blue, <br /> green,purple, and pink representing the proliferation of life on land and in the sea; and <br /> WHEREAS, the artist has requested these prints be displayed in the offices of the Mayor <br /> and Council District 4; and <br /> WHEREAS, the prints are valued at$1,250 each, for a total value of$2,500; and <br /> WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter,provides that <br /> the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other <br /> personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the <br /> capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance,may be accepted by resolution approved <br /> by the Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor and Council District 4 recommends the acceptance <br /> of this donation; now, therefore, <br />
